Blabbing to Stay Awake

Here to blab. It is late at the hospital and I am trying to stay awake. That is all this is going to be about. Me blabbing about things that are on my mind tonight.

I am really upset by the people at Swap-bot. I have been having trouble there, and admin seems too busy to help out. I can’t get my address fixed and for the last few days I can’t access my messages. UGH!!! Not to mention, some of those people that swap there take it way too seriously. Way too seriously! Like how come they cannot contact you personally before going overboard about something. I personally know 3 other people who swap there. All of us send our things out on time, but people completely overreact if the mail takes more than a day. I am sorry, but I am not paying for overnight mail. Especially if it is international. But people get there britches all up in a bunch there. That is all I am going to say. Like if you don’t receive something, send me a message. I am more than happy to make it right. If I have to, I will send another package. But I guess that is too much to ask of some people. I am just upset. I guess that is it.

Maybe the fact that I am working this horrid schedule this week isn’t helping much either. Did I tell you, I am on a “On Week” at work. That pretty much means I live, eat, and breathe the hospital. I am an intern, so I get the weird schedules. Especially when holidays are thrown into the mix. I don’t really mind. I mean I have no hubby or kiddos, so it ain’t as bad as it could be. By the way, the holidays always bring way more interesting cases.

Thursday, I am traveling. I am doing some “Group Talks” with Dr. D and a group of patients suffering from eating disorders. I have done it in the past. And I really like it. It gives me a chance to use my counseling skills and nutrition background. I seem to especially get along with this group.

But I cannot wait until Monday when life somewhat turns back to normal. I want to craft something. I finished my lent sacrifice up a little early. The big one anyway. Which was good. Mostly because tomorrow we have an Easter Egg Hunt for all of the pediatric units. I made 252 amigurumi animals for the kiddos. It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to give them away.

Other than that, I am living off of red hospital jell-O. That and a never ending supply of AMP. But the 2 don’t mix well. The Guys called with some pressing issue. I think they booked 3 gigs. But for some reason, they seem to be scared to tell me. UGH! I wonder what that is all about. J forgot the combination to his safe, and was hoping I knew it. Why? I don’t know. I think in 4 years, I have seen him open it once. And to be honest, I wasn’t really paying attention. Oh, and my friends are all banding together to marry me off. Why? I really have no clue. H says it has to do with her wanting to start a family with her new hubby. And for whatever reasons, we need to have kids at the same time. They already have a list going. No one asked me what I am looking for. My Mom thought it was funny…and even had an interesting message in her fortune cookie. So here is my short list if they bother to look…someone taller than me (I had to change light bulbs again), he has to like or at least tolerate NASCAR, PBR, and baseball, has to be somewhat ambitious, likes history, oh, and a little facial hair wouldn’t be the worst thing either.

The Girlies and Me

So, this week is a crazy one! Cari’s birthday was Sunday, Sophia’s was Monday, Lauren’s was yesterday, and Maribel’s is Friday. Almost too many birthdays to deal with…almost. From March 15th-March 27th I know someone who has a birthday every single day…sometimes 2 people. Sarita was so excited to make all kinds of fun things for the girls. So we have been making things. I bought some of those kits to make dolls and such. So she made each girl something for their birthday. Cari and her are a lot alike because they like to make things. But this afternoon, I decided that I would have the girls over for a little while.

That means I need to stock up on goodies. Did I mention I had 4 tests today? Yeah, but I have finished them, and I am ready for some girl time…this afternoon. But I need to go shopping. On my list? The girls favorite candies, craft supplies, and just fun stuff.

 1. Chocolate and caramels for me and Cari…I know we are addicted.

 2. Twizzlers for Sarita

 3. M&Ms for Maribel

 4. Chocolate raisins for Marissa

 5. Gummy worms for Lauren

 6. Starburst for Sophia

 7. Craft Supplies…paper, stickers, ribbon, etc.

 8. Bead/Pearl Necklaces…I need to hit the Thrift Stores

 9. Feathers…boas…they really like them

10. Who knows…I will just head to the Dollar Store for inspiration.

I also decided I would cook for us. I am thinking Pollo Monterey. Spicy and hot just like my itty bitty girlies. And I am thinking cinnamon caramel sundaes. I know…I am already drooling. But sometimes, I just need to spend some time with the little ones. Well I should get going, I got lots to do before I go pick up the girls!

Hi Everyone! They are having another giveaway over at The Sassy Apron Swap (http://sassyapronswap.blogspot.com/.) It is for the pattern to this wonderful tea set. Don’t you just love it? It kinda reminds me of the crochet pattern I have. Which by the way, the girls love!

Tea Cup Apron Giveaway

Over at The Sassy Apron Swap (http://sassyapronswap.blogspot.com/) they are giving away this adorable apron.

Don’t you just love it? I do. I especially love the ruffle at the bottom. It is made by Jan. A few months ago, I entered her Holiday Apron Giveaway at her blog (http://maplelane-jan.blogspot.com/.) I won a gorgeous red polka dot half apron. Oh, I need to take a picture of it so you can see it. I absolutely LOVE it. The cut is adorable. Here is the picture she has on her blog.

Well, she also has a website (http://www.jcarrelloriginals.com/) were she sells her aprons. There are lots of goodies there to buy. My favorite one is this half apron. I think it is such a feminine apron without being overly girly. I LOVE all things girly, but this one is just timeless.

Lurkers

I was just thinking, I have lurkers here. I get a bunch of e-mails from people. And the little site counter thing shows a bunch of hits. But, no one ever leaves a comment. I think that is kinda funny. Well, I got 15 people signed up for the apron swap, 20 for the color swap, and 27 for the button swap. So I know someone out there is reading my blog. Even if you don’t chat with me, I know you’re out there somewhere. I just thought I would share that.

Have a nice week!

ARGH!!!!!

Hey Guys!

I am not sure what is going on with my blog. It is not publishing all of my posts to everyone. Some people tell me they can see my posts, others say they can’t I am going to try some things when I get back to town. Oh yeah, I am in Las Vegas. My best friend H is getting married...tomorrow! Yeah, it is a pretty cute story that I will share later. But for now, I gotta go. I haven’t even seen the dress I am wearing tomorrow night. I have a fitting in a few minutes…cross your fingers and your toes that it fits.

Monthly Color Swap-Purple

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I don’t like to tell people when my birthday is. But since I don’t really use my name here, and because I highly doubt that people I know in real life read my Craft Blog, I will tell you that it comes in March. Why is this important? Because I have been thinking about 2 different colors for this month’s color swap. It has been a struggle. Mostly because they are my favorite colors. But I am going to stick with one for this month…and a combination of 2 for next month.

So in my birthday month…the color is purple. All shades…from lilac to eggplant. You can use a color combination, but try and concentrate on the purple color. Some classic combinations that immediately comes to mind are lilac and silver or plum with black. It’s your choice. I can’t wait!

Swap Rules…

Collect $20 worth of things that are purple to swap. They can be buttons, an apron, stationary, candles, craft supplies, vintage finds, anything that you would enjoy receiving. Send me a message as usual…and we can start shopping. Because I am a little late this month, you have until March 7th to sign up. And all packages should go out by March 28th. I think 3 weeks should be a good amount of time to collect items. They don’t have to be craft related, just things you would like to receive.

Let’s have some purple fun!

Conservatory Overcoat Giveaway

Hey Ladies! There is a giveaway going on at Grosgrain Fabulous (http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/2009/02/conservatory-overcoat-giveaway.html.) I swear one day I will learn how to make a link. Anyway, during my time away when my Dad was sick, she gave away the most gorgeous pair of Opera style gloves and a caplet. It reminded me of when I play at the Opera. I still remember the first time that I did so. I got really dressed up. Only to be disappointed that the patrons don’t get dressed up. In fact, they tailgated in the parking lot. It was fancier than your football tailgate, but still. I really wish I could have entered that one. Because I do dress up. I don’t care. Her story is really funny too. Because I can relate.

Anyway, Kathleen is now giving away this beautiful red overcoat. Don’t you think it is gorgeous. On a side note…I LOVE her pictures!

There are a few reasons why I love it. It is definitely my style. It can be dressed up or down. And probably more than anything else…I LOVE the color. Most people who know me, know that I usually wear all black. But I like very colorful accessories. And I have been looking for a red coat.

Oh, I really do LOVE this coat. I hope I win…oh I hope I win!!! Head over there and enter her giveaway too! And Good Luck...it is such a beautiful coat.

Easter Apron Swap

I have been searching…rather unsuccessfully for an Easter Apron Swap. I even missed out on a Spring Apron Swap by a day. A day…it made me sad. Kind of like the repeat on the St. Patrick’s Day Swap. Oh well, it just wasn’t meant to be I guess. This has all led to me wanting to start my own swap again.

Here are the rules…

You will get one partner and it is going to be a secret swap. I thought it might make it a little funnier for swapping. I know I like to get surprises in the mail. Once I get everyone’s information, I will put together another random draw like I did for my St. Patrick’s Day Swap.

You will make an apron that you would be excited to receive. Something that reminds you of Easter. It can be Easter material, or the colors you think of at Easter time. And that doesn’t just mean pastel colors…I think of vibrant and bright colors too!

Anyway, I also thought it would be nice to include some kind of note and Easter gift. It is all up to you. But I will suggest maybe including some candy and an Easter type of surprise. Just remember to put together a package that you would be excited to get.

Sign ups for this swap are from February 25th-March 7th. Packages are to be mailed by March 28th. That’s 3 weeks. I thought that should be enough time to make an apron, and also give enough time to use the apron before Easter.

If you are interested, just send me an e-mail or leave a comment. My e-mail address is in my profile.

Monthly Swap-Buttons

I decided that for this month our swap would be buttons. I LOVE buttons!!!

I really couldn’t think of what we could swap this month. But because it is a month that I am supposed to celebrate…I decided it should be about something that I LOVE!

So here are the rules…

Get together about $5-10 worth of buttons. Make them something fun and interesting. Something that you would be excited to get in the mail. Lots of times, I find some really fun ones at Wal-Mart for under a $1 a pack. Other times, I buy bundle packs at the fabric stores. Anyway, find some fun ones, then wrap them up and include a note.

Sign ups will be from February 25th-March 6th. Then you will have until March 20th to send your packages. Send me an e-mail or leave a comment. Happy Swapping!

Toodles!
